For cutlery, ceramic, and glass tableware are commonplace, unless the design is very unique, it is difficult to create a sense of freshness. The retro style that has been all the rage in recent years has allowed disposable wooden tableware to occupy a large share of this field. The wooden tableware is simple and elegant, with strong traces of time as if interpreting the changes of history, and the delicate rings show a natural atmosphere.
Historically, with the continuous progress of the processing and casting industry, the types of tableware have become more diversified, including bone products, wood products, bamboo products, bronze products, and ceramic products. In order to make eating more convenient, people in the pre-Qin period invented "chopsticks" on the basis of the original tableware, which is what we call chopsticks now, and it is one of the earliest wooden tableware. According to "Historical Records", chopsticks already existed in the Shang Dynasty, but the earliest chopsticks were only used as a tool for holding vegetables.
Types of Disposable Wooden Tableware
Generally, wooden tableware can be divided into two types: painted and unpainted. Lacquered tableware has a smooth surface, while unpainted tableware has a rustic texture. Compared with unpainted wooden tableware, a layer of paint can prevent the wood from being invaded by foreign matter. Painted tableware not only has a brighter surface but also is more convenient to maintain and use. As for bare wood tableware, there is no need to worry about the problems caused by paint, but the biggest disadvantage is that it is afraid of water.
The material itself has pores that are invisible to the naked eye. If it is not dried after cleaning, it is easy to cause the wood hair to rot, and the dirt and grease on the outside are easy to penetrate. It is recommended that before using unpainted tableware for the first time after the tableware is cleaned and completely dried, take a kitchen paper or napkin and dip a little olive oil or use a 2:1 ratio of olive oil + white vinegar to wipe the tableware to form a protective layer on the surface. Although not completely sealed like paint, it also has a protective effect. Painted tableware not only has a brighter surface but also is more convenient to maintain and use.
Small Details of Disposable Wooden Tableware Maintenance:
1. When putting fried food on wooden tableware, put a layer of oil-absorbing paper on it. Avoid direct contact between food and wood, which is beneficial to prolong the use time of tableware.
2. Do not use wooden tableware for food that is easy to stain. When food coloring seeps into the pores of the wood, it is difficult to clean and it is easy to leave marks on the edges of the tableware.
3. Do not put wooden utensils into the microwave oven. Once heated in a microwave oven at high temperature, the water content inside the wooden tableware is uneven, and it is easy to deform or even crack.
4. Wooden tableware should not be put into the refrigerator. If wooden tableware is placed in the refrigerator for a long time, the inside of the tableware will be too dry and easily deformed.
5. Do not open moldy fruit next to wooden tableware. The spores are invisible to the naked eye and are easily airborne. Because wooden tableware itself contains moisture, it is easy to become a breeding ground for mold.
